NYC

Last week I spent a few days in New York City meeting family, catching up with friends, taking in the sites and most importantly, shopping!!

We arrived to a rainy NYC evening so we went straight to the hotel bar.The venue, titled Maple, was really nice & judging by the crowd it was popular with non-residents also;a good sign for a city central spot.

After a good night’s sleep, we fuelled up on breakfast at the Blue Fin Restaurant @ The W Hotel. Quite pricey & the service was average but the food was definitely top notch.I went for the waffles and seasonal fruit.

Next up was the Natural History Museum which had a beautiful butterfly exhibition running.I also popped next door to the Historical Society where I had made off the ‘Tattoed in New York’ exhibition and it did not disappoint.

The next morning we decided to catch the East River down to Wall Street and it was a great way to get some stunning views of the city. The Q for the Ellis Island ferry was crazy long so we relaxed in Battery Park and grabbed a drink at the nearby Dead Rabbit Bar.

I finally managed to get shopping and visited a gem of a store, Metropolis Vintage where I picked up my new favourite warbrobe item: an amazing quilted bomber. I also went to the nearby Flight Club which I was really excited about and picked up a new pair of Jordans.

After a quick pit stop in Urban Outfitters (and a lighter wallet) I met up with some friends and chilled out in Central Park which was perfect with the balmy weather and a great escape from Times Square.I love NYC but it can be a little too hectic (even for me!) I’m really looking forward to going back and spending some time outside Manhattan and exploring the rest of the city.

Until next time!

Purple Magazine

Celebrities braved NYCā€™s big freeze to attend Purple magazineā€™s seasonal party which was cohosted by Spring 2015 cover girl Kim Gordon and Rag & Boneā€™s Marcus Wainwright and David Neville. The party took place at the Narcissa, in the Standard East Village hotel and in a very un-fashion like manner, guests dined on several courses consisting of chicken, beef, sea bass and a variety of vegetables.

My best dressed of the night was Edie Campbell who was fresh off the catwalk. She went with a rock chick look paired with some eye catching make up which you can check out below.

Stella McCartney Resort

Stella McCartney has long been a favourite designer of mine. Her collections are never boring, basic or familiar and McCartney’s Resort 2015 Collection was no exception. With bold prints and platform sandals, this collection was particularly fun. Ā The tailoring was laid back with cut out detail and loose chiffon, silk and outerwear pieces.Ā

Check out my favourite looks below and a selection of the uber cool guest list.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

The stars came out last night for the annual Met Ball in NYC and as always, all eyes were on the red carpet style. While some stars shone, others were dull and unfortunately some just should of stayed at home. From Jay Z & Beyonce to Kimye, couples really stole the show in the style stakes. Amber Heard and Johnny Depp were my favourite couple though in Giambattista Valli and Ralph Lauren. My best dressed lady of the night was Marion Cotillard in Dior Couture. The dress was perfect colour and fit on her without being too loud.
Inevitably there were some disappointments, and the worst for me was Cara Delevingne. I love her style and she has an incredible figure but the Stella McCartney ensemble was just ill fitting. Another beautiful star who was let down by her stylist was Emma Stone who wore Thakoo.

Karlie Kloss

My favourite supermodel, Karlie Kloss is 21 today! She is one of those super human women who could genuinely wear a brown paper bag and still take your breath away. At such a young age she is already a style icon. In the early days of her career you can really see her youthfulness and innocence in her street style but it has progressed immensely. Her style is sophisticated yet casual and while she tends to dress down when off duty she always oozes femininity.

See her style evolution below

YSL

So this week I had the honor of working with YSL Make up’s Creative Director, Lloyd Simmonds. 20 of YSL’s top make up artists flew into London to preview the Fall collection and attend the presentation.
Lloyd spoke of his inspiration behind the collection, stating that his time spent at bustlings city’s such as Paris, Rio and NYC and they’re uptown and downtown contrasts heavily influenced him.
Clashing palettes entitled ‘classy’ and ‘arty, complemented by coral and burgundy lip colours make this a stand out collection that will brighten up even the most vivid make up bags.
